Research Interests:

Viviana Heredia-Torres, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a Boricua speech-language pathologist and Ph.D. student in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Penn State. Her research focuses on the implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technologies that support individuals who cannot rely on speech to be heard or understood. She is interested in designing context-responsive strategies that improve service delivery, support innovation, and help AAC technologies become more usable, sustainable, and aligned with the priorities of diverse communities. Her work explores how families, speech-language pathologists, and community partners can shape AAC services and technologies for real-world contexts.
