Research Interests:

Cristal is a doctoral candidate in Cognitive Psychology, pursuing a dual degree title in Language Science with a Specialization in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. Her research interests revolve around language processing and cognitive function in bilinguals. Currently, her work focuses on how different accent variants of Spanish are processed in native and nonnative Spanish speakers. She hopes to incorporate her cognitive research with the NSF-NRT LINDIV program to help improve voice-activated technology and customer interaction. Cristal is also the recipient of the prestigious NSF-Graduate Research Fellowship.
