Research Interests:
Jordan is a Ph.D. student in Germanic Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, with a particular interest in second language acquisition (SLA). Jordan learned German while doing two years of ministerial work in central Germany, after which he got his bachelors in International Relations at Brigham Young University, with a secondary major in German Studies and a minor in Russian. Experience abroad taught him the value of language learning in building enriching relationships, and fueled his desire to teach, and learn how to teach, foreign languages. Jordan's research is at the interface of psycholinguistics and SLA, with a primary focus on vocabulary/morphosyntax. Currently, Jordan works on a project that compares the benefits of production and comprehension-based instruction on learning verb inflection. His adjacent interests include the psychology of learning, skill acquisition and behavior-change, as well as the science and practice of using technology to improve the human experience, particularly with respect to education. Jordan look forward to bringing these interests together with the LinDiv program!
