Research Interests:

Piper is a Ph.D. student in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She earned her M.Sc. in Speech and Language Processing from the University of Edinburgh in 2024 and her B.S. in Psychology and Linguistics from Northeastern University in 2023. Her research interests include human-centered and participatory approaches to the ethical integration of AI into augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technology, with the goal of supporting efficient communication, language learning, and self-expression. As a LinDiv trainee, she aims to contribute to the development of speech technology that better represents the diverse linguistic identities and lived experiences of users.
